Education:
Post High School - Education
Intro
A serious issue for teenagers, especially high school students, is college or another form of higher education. I speak from experience here, seeing that I am in this exact situation. It is a bit overwhelming to just be looking at colleges and trying to decide where to apply.
Statistics
Some teens don’t ever even start this process, and instead decide to go straight to the working world. This creates even more issues than before, because that sets a ceiling or wall of what is available later in life regarding jobs, lifestyle, or even acquaintances. The average amount of high school graduates that go to college is only about 63%, and this is only of the kids who actually graduate high school. But there are many factors that play into this issue, like the rising expense of college, and the amount of jobs that are available. Because of this, many high school students decide, instead of go to college, they cut their losses and debt, and grab a low income job right out of high school. And right there, debt is another one of the serious issues around higher education. In the year 2012, the average debt of college graduates was over $29,000.
Summary
For most students facing this problem, your best resources are going to be parents, high school counselor, and the teacher whose class is most like the area that you think you want to study. There are also many websites that help you search for colleges with programs geared around what you want to study. https://bigfuture.collegeboard.org/college-search. The best information besides this that I can give is, good luck!
Of course, this issue is only surrounding teenagers that have access to higher education. There are huge numbers of teens that either, can’t afford to go to college, or are in a place where they cannot get to any form of education or higher education. For information on this topic, click here.
