School violence and shootings are a problem because many teens and young children die every year due to potentially preventable violence. This violence makes teenagers scared to go to school, and parents scared to send them. This relates back to the topic of education because as school violence grows, it is more important to be briefed on how to react in a situation. It's also important to know all the facts and signs to look for so that a school violence act can be prevented. School violence is an issue plaguing countries all around the world. Though America leads in number of school shootings, other countries in Europe and Central America also experience school shooting and bully-related incidents frequently. There is no concrete solution to this issue of school shootings and other violence. The only ways to attempt to reduce this tragedy are to teach students how to watch for warning signs that something might be severely wrong with another student, and to check students persons and bags upon arriving to school.

Just Some Stats

  1. 40% of the schools in the USA have severe problems of school violence and 10% out of these forty have at least one serious crime reported every year
  2. Children ages 5-14 in America are 13x more likely to be murdered with guns as children in other industrialized countries
  3. USA is ranked 10th in the world for deaths by firearms
